Our Values
Below are listed the core values of our company and what they mean to us.
We Demand – To us, core values are not suggestions or goals but rather the foundation of how we do business. Violation of the core values is completely unacceptable.
- Honesty and Integrity – We think these values are interrelated. Honesty is pretty straightforward; it means we do not lie. Integrity means we have a set of core values to which we adhere in everything we do, honesty especially. This first value is very extensive and tough! It ranges from not disparaging our competitors to meeting our obligations and commitments.
- Loyalty to Our Company – Loyalty pertains to not divulging corporate information, not entering into competitive situations with the company or its customers, not disparaging the company to anyone, etc. It means when you hear someone disparaging our company or its employees or products, you vigorously defend us rather than agreeing with the disparager.
- Heroic Customer Service – This means doing everything humanly possible to ensure that our customers are productively using our systems. It means not going home with an open customer issue. It means calling back customers to ensure that their problems are solved. It does not mean simply meeting deadlines or being nice to customers. It means making customers feel that the most valuable element of dealing with GeoCue is the service. It should be the reason that a customer could not possibly choose a competitor’s solutions. It means that customers are delighted with us. Heroic Customer Service does not mean “free” customer service. As a matter of fact, heroic customer service allows a company to charge a premium for their service.
- Continuous Improvement in Everything We Do - This one started out as “excellence in everything we do”. However, what does that mean? It seems to imply that excellence is an achievable goal and once we get there, the goal is gone! Furthermore, who is going to judge the boundary between very good and excellent? This value is saying that we are never satisfied. We are constantly seeking to improve every aspect of what we do. This encompasses every aspect of our business and every employee.
- Respect For and Among Our Employees – This means that it is the job of every employee, from President down, to ensure that employees are treated fairly and with respect. This means that the company is totally dedicated to providing everyone an equal opportunity within a safe workplace free of prejudice or intolerance. It means a zero tolerance policy for occurrences that violate this principle.
- Fiscal Responsibility – Fiscal responsibility means that we are very careful about how we apply financial resources within the company. We felt that a value such as “profitability” was too nebulous and too easily dismissed through thoughts such as “I cannot directly influence profitability so this value does not apply to me.” Everyone can exercise fiscal responsibility through everyday decisions such as using surface mail rather than FED EX, conserving office supplies, efficiently writing software and, well, you get the idea! Fiscal responsibility does not mean selecting the cheapest alternative! It means selecting the alternative that is appropriate for a given situation. For example, normal software upgrades would be sent by economical surface post whereas a customer down part order would probably go out by the fastest means available.
