DJI Drones

Phantom 4 Pro

The Phantom 4 Pro redefines the iconic Phantom series, bringing imaging and intelligence to new heights. Its uprated camera shoots 4K/60fps at a bitrate of 100Mbps and stills up to 20-megapixels, creating dramatically better images. The FlightAutonomy system adds dual rear vision sensors and two Time of Flight range imaging cameras for a total of 5 directions of obstacle sensing with a range of up to 30m in all directions. The upgraded Lightbridge HD video transmission system offers an extended maximum transmission range of 4.3mi and enables you to switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. It can also be used with an optional integrated monitor for even more reliable transmission. Operators are also further empowered with a new suite of ActiveTrack and TapFly functions. The aircraft’s Intelligent Flight Battery also have increased capacity by 520mAh to enable an extended flight time of 30 minutes.

Recommended Configuration and Accessories: Phantom 4 Pro Drone and base Kit, 2 Batteries, DJI Care

Pros: Low-cost system, Fewer batteries required per flight, Small and light-weight

Cons: Not as wind resistant as larger copters, Does not have same system redundancies as higher-end models, Less robust image capture, Not weather resistant, Not good for cold weather

Inspire 2

The Inspire 2 takes everything that was good about the Inspire 1 and improves it. The Inspire 2 featuring a 1-inch sensor and compact design, the Zenmuse X4S makes it easy to capture visually stunning images with the Inspire 2 and the CineCore 2.0 image processing system. It goes from 0 to 50 mph in 5 seconds, has a max speed of 58 mph, and a descent speed of 9 m/s for unheard of speed and agility. A dual battery system prolongs flight time to 27 minutes, while a self-heating technology allows it to fly even in lower temperatures. FlightAutonomy has been revised and developed specifically for the Inspire 2, providing two directions of obstacle avoidance and sensor redundancy. An upgraded video transmission system is now capable of dual signal frequency and dual channel, streaming video from an onboard FPV camera and the main camera simultaneously, for better pilot and camera operator collaboration.

Recommended Configuration and Accessories: Inspire 2 Base Kit, X4S Camera, 2 Batteries, DJI Care

Pros: Mid-price platform, Increased reliability, through redundancy of system components, Dual batteries, Heated batteries for better endurance in cold weather, Supports multiple cameras

Cons: Increased cost over Phantom, Not weather resistant

Matrice 200/210

The Matrice 200 includes high-performance motors paired with 17-inch propellers that ensure stable flight in strong winds. The new dual-battery power system automatically heats batteries when flying in sub-zero temperatures, while an enclosed design ensures weather and water resistance, so you can fly in a wide range of environments. A robust FlightAuthority system with front, bottom, and upper sensors, detext and avoid obstacles while enabling precision hovering so that you can fly with confidence. Pilots can fly the slim TB50 batteries for improved portability or the larger TB55 batteries to properly support a dual gimbal configuration and increase flight times.

Recommended Configuration and Accessories: M200/210 Base Kit, 2 Batteries, X4S Camera, DJI Care

Pros: Stable in strong winds, heated batteries for better performance in cold weather, Water and dust resistant, broader selection of camera for mapping and inspection, multiple-payload configurations

Cons: Increased cost, Legs do not retract (Only significant for Inspection purposes – does not impact mapping use)

Matrice 600

The Matrice 600 Pro (M600 Pro) inherits everything from the M600 with improved flight performance and better loading capacity. Pre-installed arms and antennas reduce time required for setup, and the system’s modular design makes it easy to mount additional modules. The airframe is equipped with the latest DJI technologies, including the A3 Pro flight controller, Lightbridge 2 HD transmission system, Intelligent Batteries and Battery Management system. Several Zenmuse cameras and gimbals are natively compatible and full integration with third party software and hardware make the M600 Pro ideal for professional aerial photography and industrial applications.

Recommended Configuration and Accessories: M600 Base Kit, Ronin MX Gimble, 6 Batteries, Sony A7R Series Camera, Go Professional Hardcase; if using with Loki – Geo Snap Triggering System also recommended

Pros: Can carry MILC/DSLR cameras and LIDAR systems (for example Sony Alpha 6000 and 7 series)

Cons: Larger/Heavier than other platforms, 6 batteries required per flight, Does not support latest DJI cameras, Does not have obstacle avoidance

All the drones recommended here are suitable for mapping/surveying operations and can integrate with Loki, our Direct Geopositioning System.
