The Lake Michigan shoreline has a coastal bluff that ranges in height from less than 20 feet to over 140 feet and experiences varying rates of erosion. In the mid-1970s, and again in the mid-1990s, the bluffs were measured using a hand-held inclinometer and tape to assess the bluffs’ slope stability.
