The release of the True View® 410 (Figure 1), our initial 3D Imaging Sensor (3DiS) has really exceeded my expectations. We migrated system production from our Research and Development (R&D) team to Manufacturing proper near the end of Q4-2019. We have a relatively smooth manufacturing workflow in place now and are working hard to build up a bit of “on the shelf” stock. So far, we have been selling/subscribing True View 410 systems as fast as we can manufacture them, a good problem to have! Read more...

The volume of geospatial data being collected by government agencies and private sector organizations presents significant challenges for cataloging and distributing the data to all interested stakeholders in a timely, cost-effective and responsive manner. Data repositories sitting on hard disk drives or requiring staff involvement to respond to requests to search for and deliver data to stakeholders are extremely inefficient, do not scale with demand and waste valuable resources during critical periods, such as post-disaster events. There is a clear need for a sophisticated, scalable solution for the storage, cataloging and on-line distribution of spatial data archives currently locked behind outdated – or often non-existent – data distribution methods. Wiregrass Construction has been using GeoCue’s drone imaging and analysis products since they were first introduced in 2013. Using Loki direct positioning system and LP360, Wiregrass has performed hundreds of site mapping missions for quarries, asphalt plants, and construction projects. Photogrammetry has been an invaluable tool, however on less active sites where stockpiles become overgrown with vegetation and overburden volumes need to be computed in vegetated areas, photogrammetry is not enough. These are clearly situations where LIDAR is the right tool for the job. Read more...

We all have Global Warming fatigue, but a look at the shoreline in very expensive neighborhoods of Miami Beach, Florida using a True View 3DiS really brings home the concern. The City of Miami Beach, one of our first True View 410 customers, is very concerned about the height of seawalls in its canal neighborhoods. Read more...

As with traditional airborne laser scanning and camera systems, with drone or sUAS based LIDAR and camera systems it is necessary to obtain a good project calibration. The proper calibration of a system allows pieces of collected data, whether that be image frames or flight lines of laser data, collected over the course of the project to be merged together as if they were collected at the same time by one giant sensor. This requires a good relative calibration, where the data from one flight line to another, or one image to another matches well Read more...
