This document is extracted and heavily revised from a series of articles that I wrote in 2013. The big change is that, at that time, we only had enforcement in the standalone version of LP360, which is our advanced LIDAR and point cloud processing software. Now, we are essentially feature-complete with new tools in standalone LP360. Not only are all of the breakline creation tools present, but we also have a very rich set of 3D feature edit tools. The Lake Michigan shoreline has a coastal bluff that ranges in height from less than 20 feet to over 140 feet and experiences varying rates of erosion. In the mid-1970s, and again in the mid-1990s, the bluffs were measured using a hand-held inclinometer and tape to assess the bluffs’ slope stability. This case study takes a look at how we re-measured the bluffs relatively quickly and cost-effectively using LIDAR data in LP360. Read more...
