TerraScan 3D Vector Models
January 15, 2020

TerraScan and TerraPhoto have long had tools for creating 3D vector models from LIDAR, as well as nadir and oblique imagery. Terrasolid has continuously added to the toolset to make the process more efficient and expand the capabilities. The addition of automatic building and other above ground feature classification, along with automatic building vectorization and quality control workflows have made traditional airborne laser scanning useful for creating 3D city models for creating and updating city databases, including comparisons to existing city footprint information.

What is 3DIS, Anyway?
January 15, 2020

We keep emphasizing that the True View 410 is a 3D Imaging System (3DIS), not just a drone LIDAR system. So what exactly is a 3DIS? Well, we coined the term so we get to define the technology!

GeoCue True View Ecosystem
January 13, 2020

The release of the True View® 410 (Figure 1), our initial 3D Imaging Sensor (3DiS) has really exceeded my expectations. We migrated system production from our Research and Development (R&D) team to Manufacturing proper near the end of Q4-2019. We have a relatively smooth manufacturing workflow in place now and are working hard to build up a bit of "on the shelf" stock. So far, we have been selling/subscribing True View 410 systems as fast as we can manufacture them, a good problem to have!

Earth Sensor Portal - Publishing Your Geospatial Data Catalog Online
January 10, 2020

The volume of geospatial data being collected by government agencies and private sector organizations presents significant challenges for cataloging and distributing the data to all interested stakeholders in a timely, cost-effective and responsive manner. Data repositories sitting on hard disk drives or requiring staff involvement to respond to requests to search for and deliver data to stakeholders are extremely inefficient, do not scale with demand and waste valuable resources during critical periods, such as post-disaster events. There is a clear need for a sophisticated, scalable solution for the storage, cataloging and on-line distribution of spatial data archives currently locked behind outdated - or often non-existent - data distribution methods.

Considerations when Matching sUAS Data
July 26, 2019

As with traditional airborne laser scanning and camera systems, with drone or sUAS based LIDAR and camera systems it is necessary to obtain a good project calibration. The proper calibration of a system allows pieces of collected data, whether that be image frames or flight lines of laser data, collected over the course of the project to be merged together as if they were collected at the same time by one giant sensor. This requires a good relative calibration, where the data from one flight line to another, or one image to another matches well
